Practical System for DreamBuilders

"You must begin to think of yourself as becoming the person you want to be."
- David Viscott, M.D.

I love inspirational quotes! This particular quote from Dr. Viscott, psychiatrist, author, businessman, and media personality, touched a nerve for me today. I'm in the throes of learning to launch an online marketing business, and I'm planning for my success!

My new online marketing business is going to offer a Practical System for DreamBuilders to help my clients make their dream come true! This business is the "how", i.e., the financial mechanism, for making my own dreams come true. I'm following the popular adage, which says to get what you want, help others get what they want!

I haven't yet decided on my target market., although I'm thinking of being of service to boomer-age women and men who have a lot more juicy living to do! And I definitely don't want to just focus on business-related dreams. In fact, I'd like to work with a variety of clients who are building a variety of dreams, such as going on an adventure trip, writing a book, moving to another country, starting a new business, or mastering a new hobby.

What I know for sure is that being able to turn your dream into reality depends on your becoming the person you want to be. You can't become the person you want to be without getting your intentions, thoughts, and actions moving in the direction of your dreams.

My idea is to create a "system" for helping my clients grow themselves in 12 key areas, in order to be the person they need to be to manifest and live their dream life. Of course, I need to do this myself to ensure the success of my new business!

The 12 areas of personal growth to assess in my new program are:

1. Health and Fitness
2. Gratitude
3. Spirituality
4. Relationships/Communication/Love of Self and Others
5. Giving/Significance
6. Creativity/Hobbies
7. Mastery/Personal Power
8. Business Skills
9. Personal Technology
10. Finances/Wealth
11. The Mind
12. Life Purpose

I have succeeded in making many of my own dreams come true, including raising a family, growing a loving marriage, learning how to cook, becoming self-employed, and starting an investment program. It's time for my next dream to come true! I'm excited to work with others on a similar path.

Lifestyle Entrepreneur

This is my new title: Lifestyle Entrepreneur. It perfectly describes what I am doing at this stage of my life.

Here is the definition of Lifestyle Entrepreneur and why it applies to me.

A Lifestyle Entrepreneur focuses on three core things.

1. Freedom of location

I can live and work anywhere I chose. That's an amazing reality! My virtual coaching and online marketing businesses are expanding, which will allow me to live in New England for the summer and somewhere warmer in the winter. That freedom of location is quickly taking shape; I will be vacationing with my husband in Maine next summer. We can't wait!

2. Low fixed costs

I am the budget-master for our household and am dedicated to controlling our costs, investing for wealth-building, and enjoying our life along the way.

3. Flexibility of time

I manage my time to fit my lifestyle, so I have flexibility to handle personal, business, and family needs as they arise.

For my entire 22-year career in corporate America, I dreamed of being a Lifestyle Entrepreneur. Dreams do come true if you stay focused on your goal!

The Power of Vocabulary

Excerpt from 31 Days to Improve Your Vocabulary

Introduction: The Power of Vocabulary

Do you ever feel frustrated because you can’t precisely communicate your thoughts and ideas to others? Do you sometimes misinterpret what others are attempting to communicate to you? If you answered, “Yes” to one or both questions, you’re in the majority of the population.

Most of us have ongoing opportunities to grow our vocabulary, which can be a satisfying, low-cost, and effective way to boost lifetime success.

Ultimately your success is dependent on how well you assimilate incoming information, process it with careful thought, and express exactly what you mean through your spoken and written words.

The English language is one of the most difficult to master, even for those of us for whom it’s our native tongue. Many English words have multiple spellings, meanings, pronunciations, and parts of speech. Vocabulary building is a key to refining language skills.

When you master a word, you can actively and confidently use it appropriately. Each person’s reading, writing, and spoken vocabularies are a unique combination of mastery levels.

Ceteris paribus, meaning “all other things being equal” in Latin, a strong vocabulary can give you the edge in succeeding in all your endeavors.

My own vocabulary-building journey has been constant. As early as grammar school, I had a high comfort level with words and ideas. That interest transformed into a lifelong love of language, reading, and writing. I’ve studied Latin, French, and Spanish, although I didn’t inherit my father’s gift for fluency in multiple languages. Nor did I inherit my mother’s ability to complete the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzles in ink at lightning speed. I married a writer who has an amazing vocabulary and has saved me many lookups in the dictionary. However, he can only count his Scrabble® victories on one hand!

Whether or not you’re a logophile like me, I encourage you to take the importance of vocabulary building seriously, while having fun with the tools and techniques I assembled in this book. Find the tips and action steps that work best for you and make them part of your success plan.

Slow-Cooker Pork Carnitas

In September, we made the 12-hour drive from North Carolina to Louisville, Kentucky to visit our older son and his family and welcome our new granddaughter, Daphne. Of course we arrived famished and we couldn't have been happier with the dinner they provided us, Slow-Cooker Pork Carnitas.

Here's the recipe, thanks to www.thekitchn.com: Slow-Cooker Pork Carnitas

We had never heard of Pork Carnitas before that night, but now we are big fans of this delicious meat dish. Our daughter-in-law gave us the recipe, and we bought a slow-cooker before we left Kentucky so we could make our own batch of Pork Carnitas as soon as we returned home. For just the two of us, we found we could enjoy one meal and have enough leftovers for about five more dinners!

This is the Crock Pot we purchased for about $50. It worked just fine, and I recommend it. The size is right and it has a removable, washable liner. Here's my affiliate code: http://amzn.to/2e9XBhh

We haven't had a Crock Pot since the early days of our marriage, so it's fun to get back into the world of slow-cooker recipes. They are usually easy to assemble, economical, and taste delicious!

Daniel Pearl World Music Days

On Sunday, October 30th, my husband and I decided to attend the Daniel Pearl Music Days Peace Through Music Concert at our church, the Basilica Shrine of St. Mary, in Wilmington, NC. We had no idea what to expect, but we felt a need to align ourselves with something entertaining and peaceful. We are so glad we made the decision to attend such a meaningful event!

After Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter, was killed by extremists in 2002, his family and friends formed the Daniel Pearl Foundation. The mission of the Foundation is to promote cross-cultural understanding through journalism, music, and innovative communications. Since the formation of the foundation, the Daniel Pearl World Music Days has grown to include the participation of more than 13,900 performances in 140 countries.

At our local event, we were entertained by a variety of talented musicians, including The Julia Walker Jewell Jazz Quartet, the Alliance Dance Company, violinists from Suzuki Talent Education of Wilmington, Dr. Clark Spencer, viola soloist, Marva Robinson, a soprano who nearly blew through the basilica's roof with her amazing vocals, and Massive Grass, a bluegrass band like no other.

In addition, we were mesmerized by the silk vocals of the B'Nai Isreal Kava Notes.

And last, but not least, the youthful Snow Production Gospel Choir punctuated the event's theme, with a rousing rendition of We Are the World, by Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie.

Thanks to all these dedicated musicians, we left the event simply wanting to continue the ripple effect of what we experienced. We share a common humanity and music truly is our universal language.
